Premium secondary money, 440 passing yards allowed

Davis Alexander went 30-of-40 for 440 yards and Tyson Philpot's 11 catches for 207 yards set the CFL single-season record for Canadian receivers — against a Winnipeg secondary featuring Evan Holm and Trey Vaval, veterans the club has invested in. The article notes both were in "great position" on the 52- and 46-yard deep shots, which means the damage came underneath, not over the top. Paying top-of-market for coverage corners while the intermediate zone leaks is the worst possible cap allocation, and the transaction wire offers no cheap fix.
