Sergio Castillo is the only dependable point-producer on a 4-4 Bombers squad that just coughed up a franchise-record 377 rushing yards to BC and can’t finish drives. While the offence sputters in the red zone and Zach Collaros nurses bruised ribs, Castillo has repeatedly bailed out a team that has lost two straight by 22 and 16 points.
Castillo has already nailed multiple 50-plus yarders this season, giving the Bombers a legitimate three-point threat from deep in a year when every possession matters. Watch for head coach to lean on him even more against BC’s rookie QB Kaidon Salter — if the defence can’t stop the run, Castillo’s leg is the only thing keeping these games from becoming blowouts.
Specialist money around $180,000 — premium, but the points justify it.
The veteran kicker is Winnipeg’s primary scoring weapon and field-position equalizer, tasked with turning stalled drives into points and keeping a leaky defence within striking distance.
