Brady Oliveira's 18 carries for 139 yards — 7.7 yards per attempt — was the load-bearing wall of the entire game plan. When your quarterback is making his fifth start and your franchise passer is on the six-game, the run game stops being a complement and becomes a scheme. Winnipeg's was. The problem is what the passing distribution says about the room's construction. Singer, a first-year import, was Brown's favourite target early. White, a free-agent addition, scored from 22. Winnipeg is now running it on its starting quarterback, and the return date is effectively the whole season.

Meanwhile, the practice squad and the bottom of the 46-man roster are where this actually gets decided.
