The Hall of Fame Distraction
The 2026 induction of the 1988 and 1990 Grey Cup teams is a well-deserved honour, but it risks papering over the present. Those teams, coached by Mike Riley, won with a balanced attack and a swarming defence that forced 38 turnovers in 1990 alone. The 2026 Bombers, by contrast, are minus-7 in turnover differential. The nostalgia of Riley's Gatorade baths and Cal Murphy's Ring of Honour ceremony on September 25th cannot fix a roster that has lost four of its last six games. The Bombers need schematic evolution — more RPOs, more Cover-1 blitzes — not a trip down memory lane.
