A Rookie Safety Is the Soft Spot Opponents Are Now Hunting

Rookie safety Ashton Miller-Melancon was the coverage man on Dorian Singer's 52-yard deep corner — a ball that travelled 48 yards in the air with play-action buying a clean pocket. Two snaps earlier, Jaydon Grant undercut Collaros's second throw and dropped what would have been a pick-six. Two of Calgary's best chances came from attacking the same young defensive back, which is a target pattern, not variance — and it's the kind of thing that forces a depth-chart decision at safety.
