Trey Vaval's dual role is worth more than his return average

Vaval, the reigning Most Outstanding Rookie, is listed as a defensive back and return specialist — a combination that lets O'Shea dress an extra body elsewhere on the game-day roster instead of carrying a return-only American. In a West Division where Winnipeg's offense is averaging under 250 passing yards per start, the hidden yards Vaval creates on punt and kick returns function as a second scoring unit. Watch his return leverage Saturday: if Calgary punts to him rather than angling out of bounds, the Bombers' average starting field position can swing by a full first down's worth of field.
