Bombers Hedge on QB Future with 'Pop' Watson

Winnipeg added 22-year-old UMass senior William 'Pop' Watson to its negotiation list, a low-cost move to secure CFL rights. Watson's 74.0% completion rate and 6:1 TD-to-INT ratio at UMass (4-0 as starter) contrast sharply with his 57.1% and 1:2 ratio at Virginia Tech — a late bloomer the Bombers are betting on. With the team at 7-7 and fighting for a playoff spot, the front office is quietly building a succession plan.
